January 2019

Christmas out the way New Year. There's a new team in town.....Goole Vikings, that’s what I’m talking about !!!

It’s been a great response from the lads over the Christmas period and New Year 3 training sessions over that period, we got through some great stuff and the effort from the lads was awesome.

We had a great social event where we watched our colleagues from the football team at Vikings had a few beers and have a great laugh.

As for the rugby we’ve had a great month. On the field the lads have worked really hard on our structure. Fitness is picking up nicely and signs from the training field are we’re ready to go.

Congratulations go to Dave Backhouse in becoming our team captain and also to Josh Hardy in becoming our vice captain, both very well deserved. We’ve got 2 friendlies organised for Feb 16th versus East Hull at Rosemeade Street. Newearswick (York) on the 23rd of Feb every player that is signed on will play in these games training will continue Monday 7:30 till 9 & Wednesday 7:30 till 9 @ VPG.

December 2018

Hello and welcome to coach's corner December 2018,

a month further on from the last edition of my monthly blog and things are going from strength to strength.numbers attending training have improved we're now training 2 nights a week,

Monday, 8 PM to 9 PM and  Thursday   7 PM to 8:30 PM

We're making great strides forward in our structure, also learning about each other's abilities and asking players to experience playing different positions then maybe they are used to has been very encouraging.

Training will continue to ramp up over the next couple of months, working hard on our defensive structure and technique.

So a very Merry Christmas to all of our staff and sponsors, and a very happy new year.

See you in 2019

“Up the Vikings”

November 2018

Welcome to coaches corner, let me start by introducing myself, my name is Shaun Turner and I'm a qualified level 2 rugby league coach. I come from Hull where I've been coaching at various different levels for 26 years.

I've spent a lot of time with ‘Goolies’over the years, I served my time as an electrician with a company from Goole and my dad sold fish around Goole for many years. So I've got a soft spot for Goole.

Rugby League is back in you're town and we all at Goole Vikings are buzzing about it. I'd say we're about 80% local lads within the team and the rest are bringing in some vital experience from places like Featherstone and Hull. We're making great strides forward and hitting the marks we need to hit on our timeline to be somewhere near by the time the season comes around.

We're still looking for players to join us so if your 16 or over come and see what it's all about on Monday night 20:00 start at Victoria Pleasure Ground, Goole.

See you there
